Tribal Development
Uplifting Lives. Preserving Identity. Building Futures.
Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra is home to a large tribal population, living in remote and forested villages. Despite their rich cultural heritage and traditional wisdom, these communities face chronic poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition, lack of healthcare, unemployment, and increasing disconnection from mainstream development. Due to poor infrastructure, limited government reach, and Naxal impact, tribal people often remain unheard and underserved.
At The Josh Foundation, we are deeply committed to tribal development that is holistic, inclusive, and respectful of tribal identity. Our focus is not just to provide services, but to empower communities from withinโso they become capable of leading their own progress.
Our Key Tribal Development Initiatives
๐ข 1. Awareness and Sensitization Programs
We regularly conduct awareness campaigns in villages on issues like:
Health & hygiene
Child education and girl child rights
Prevention of early marriage and domestic violence
Government schemes and legal rights
These help bridge the information gap and empower tribal communities to make better decisions.
๐ฉบ 2. Access to Healthcare
We provide affordable healthcare through our Charitable Hospital at Jimalgatta, along with:
Mobile health check-up camps
Nutrition support for children and mothers
Health awareness drives
Referrals for critical cases to higher hospitals
๐ 3. Education and Mainstreaming Children
Our Josh School of Excellence brings quality primary education to tribal children locally. We also identify out-of-school children, motivate their parents, and help enroll them in school โ with support for books, uniforms, and tuition if needed.
๐ช 4. Youth and Women Empowerment
We provide skill training, career counselling, and livelihood support to tribal youth and women. Many women now earn and support their families proudly. We work with Self-Help Groups and help women access micro-loans to start small businesses.
๐ญ 5. Deaddiction and Mental Wellness
Substance abuse is a serious concern in tribal areas. Our Deaddiction awareness campaigns, counselling sessions, and referrals have helped many people come out of addiction and live healthier, productive lives.
Our Impact
Reached 10,000+ tribal individuals through various development activities.
